Brothers Shiladitya and Debaditya Chaudhury being foodies to the core started Oudh 1590 to further explore their passion towards food. With innumerable visits to Lucknow and after thorough research on Awadhi cuisine and culture they decided to create an altogether new period dining experience with the brand Oudh 1590.
Enterprising in nature, Debaditya had a passion for music which led him to join the Bengali band Lakkhichhara in 1998. Lakkhichhara eventually became one of the most popular Bangla rock bands in West Bengal and many of the band’s hits are still a craze among the youngsters of the city. While Lakkhichara was taking him places; he intensely travelled around the globe as a musician. A globe trotter and an ardent foodie is another of side of Debaditya that very few know of. With his wealth of experience that he gathered from around the world and his love for food, he started Chowman Chain of Restaurants in 2010. Debaditya’s in-depth understanding of the market scenario and his yearning to offer customers the best in Chinese cuisine at the most affordable prices has significantly contributed to the growth of the restaurant and established Chowman as one of Kolkata’s favourite destination for neighbourhood fine dining spread across prime locations all over the city. Debaditya then along with his brother Shiladitya gave Kolkata the first ever destination for Awadhi cuisine and Kolkata’s first period dining restaurant Oudh 1590 serving authentic royal delicacies from the time of the Nawabs.
A loyal foodie and a connoisseur of national and international cuisines, Shiladitya was eager to open his own chain of restaurants. Shiladitya along with his younger brother Debaditya, opened Oudh 1590 in the year, 2013. Oudh 1590 today, is a craze and a brand synonym with Handi Biryani, Galawati and Kakori Kababs. Buoyed with its success, the duo opened two more outlets of Oudh 1590 strategically located at Saltlake and Southern Avenue. With Oudh 1590 gaining tremendous popularity, the duo started yet another era with the brand Chapter 2 at Mani Square Mall to recreate the lost glory of the Park Street food and music culture of the 50s, 60s, and the 70s. Both the restaurant brands located at various locations in Kolkata have found immense popularity among the food lovers of the country. Shiladitya's entrepreneurial skills are evident from the success of his varied ventures. Since his college days, he has directed music as part of the Shiladitya Raj duo, and has released more than eight albums, sung by popular playback singers, Abhijeet, Kumar Sanu, Amit Kumar, Usha Uthup, Rupankar and others.
